Our Ministries

Apostles Community Kitchen

  • As of October 31, 2024, this program has served 29 Sunday evening suppers, distributing 3,400 meals. An average supper serves 57 guests.
  • Local Orthodox church communities prepare the meals and serve them to our guests. On average, over 100 volunteers come to FOCUS each year to help our neighbors.
  • This program also operates a supplemental food pantry. While other programs have certain standards that can hinder accessing services, our only qualification standard is that we will serve whoever Christ brings to us.
  • So far this year, Apostles’ Community Kitchen has distributed over $30,000 worth of food to its guests through its Sunday Suppers and Supplemental Food Pantry.

St. Xenia’s Clothing Closet

  • St. Xenia’s Clothing Closet hands out everyday clothing, including shirts, pants, underwear, and socks.
  • This program also includes emergency items such as rain ponchos, emergency blankets, and wool blankets.
  • This year, St. Xenia’s Clothing Closet has provided our guests with over $8,500 worth of clothing.
  • Local Orthodox Churches donate clothing to be distributed.

St. Elijah’s Bus Tickets

  • St. Elijah’s Bus Tickets provides two single-use bus tickets to guests who need help accessing food, clothing, shelter, work, school, medical care, church, or meetings with a social worker or probation officer.
  • So far this year, this program has provided over 2,300 bus tickets to guests.
  • St. Elijah’s Bus Tickets also provides long-distance travel assistance to qualifying participants.

St. Elias’ Haircuts and Hygiene items

  • This program began this year with the help of a local volunteer who holds a cosmetology license.
  • To date, 67 haircuts and 30 beard trims have been provided.
  • Personal hygiene items, including soap, shampoo, toothbrushes, toothpaste, razors, and women’s hygiene products, were transferred from the food pantry to this program.
